Vocational Service

At the Hoddesdon Rotary Club, we've mixed Vocational Services with Youth Activities into a delightful blend that perfectly complements our array of projects.

We provide support to young people, infused with vocational expertise, to enhance their education and job readiness through competitions, scholarships, and interview training as multifaceted as a Swiss Army knife.

Our commitment is to uphold the highest ethical standards in our business and professional endeavors – we're the culinary masters of Rotary service, crafting integrity in the workplace.

Take a peek at our project lineup:

The June Technology Tournament is the star of our events, drawing secondary school students from South East Hertfordshire like bees to honey. They dive into a surprise design and build challenge, revealed only on the day of the event. For example, the 2023 challenge was to build a crane from various materials, nimble enough to move a "radioactive" object from a container to a target without a hitch.

The March Primary School Essay Competition, celebrating its 30th anniversary, is like the literary Olympics for Year 6 pupils. They express their future ambitions in an essay titled “What I want to be when I grow up”. The experience is enchanting – finalists receive a shiny certificate, and the winner gets a book voucher. Plus, the champion spends a day living out their dream job. From Jack Cosgrove's seafaring quest in Grimsby to Amelia Hewitt's day at the children's hospital, we're dedicated to making dreams come true, one adventure at a time.

Our Creative Writing Competition has become a local sensation. Imagine 400 primary schoolers enthralled by author Michelle Paver at Hertfordshire Zoo, then unleashing their inner Shakespeare in a storytelling showdown. The victors take home honors and gifts, beaming pride into their schools.

And let's not forget the Mock Interviews – our club's version of a friendly dragon's den.
